2008’ Jayhawk Golf Club Season
New for 2008'
Electronic
Handicap:
The USGA handicap
system at
Alvamar is paper less. The procedure for posting scores is user
friendly and
intuitive. Be sure to legibly print out your e-mail address on your
membership
application so that we can give GHIN your correct e-mail address. Your
handicap
will be emailed to you by GHIN according to their handicap schedule
throughout
the year. Also, we will be using email for correspondence (match
&
stroke play entries etc.) so it is important that you set your email
client
filter to accept email from us. Help us make sure you get our
emails. The
computer in the pro shop is available for the membership to post
scores; you
can also post scores and check your handicap index on the web at www.ghin.com. This year we are going
to be more
vigilant in checking member's scores. Men's club scores should be
posted by the
members themselves. Even though we keep a secondary “Jayhawk Golf Club”
handicap based entirely on men's club scores, to be used ONLY for
Jayhawk Golf
Club events, we DO NOT post those Jayhawk scores for you. The Jayhawk
scores,
just like all the other scores, must be posted by the members
themselves online
or on the GHIN computer in the pro shop. Please post EVERY score you shoot during the
season either online or on
the computer in the pro shop!
Membership /
We will continue to
award
extra Gran prix points to our members for bringing guests and for
recruiting
new members. Members should take advantage of the program and increase
their
point total while at the same time turning their golfing friends onto
our Club!
You will receive one point every time that a guest plays in a Jayhawk
event and
three points for actually recruiting a new member (a player that pays
full
membership dues of $85). Guests pay “covey connection” rates, a
substantial
discount.
Pace of Play /
Cart Path
Rules:
We are continuing
in our
quest to eliminate slow play within our club. We have set the mark at
four
hours and thirty minutes, with a goal of four hours and fifteen minutes
or
less. Any group that is timed over 4:30 will be penalized 2 Gran prix
points
(each player is penalized 2pts). In the case of one group holding up
the entire
field playing behind them - we will identify the guilty parties and
they will
be penalized, not every group that played behind them and were also
over the
time limit. In order to make Alvamar more "player" friendly we have
revised the cart path rules to allow you to drive in the rough. The 90
degree
rule in terms of driving in the rough will now be the standard. As
usual you
can drive anywhere in the fairways. This should also help facilitate a
reasonable
pace of play for our club.
